Designed to help beginning students learn basic glassworking techniques. The Studio’s resident adviser offers a step-by-step approach to learning how to begin to blow glass at the furnace. Mr. Gudenrath starts with simple exercises and then proceeds to teach students the basics of creating a tumbler, a tall vessel, and a low vessel. A must see for all those who wish to master basic furnace glassblowing.

Thomas Chapman owns Shiloh Hotglass, Dayton, Ohio. Chapman makes an uplift handkerchief style footed bowl" (one of his Uplift Series of Fazzaletto vessels), a 25 foot long glass cane, and a "Point of Departure" giant sculpture, using cane.

This video documents a two-week long class taught by William Gudenrath. The course was aimed at students with substantial experience in the fundamentals of glassblowing to provide a firm foundation in the basic maneuvers of Venetian-style glassblowing. Footage includes the making of well-formed and thinly blown vessel bodies, excellent necks, delicate mereses, and blown feet and stems. After mastering these techniques, the class continued with cane-making and cane-working processes
