Hot Glass Sculpting at the Furnace: Videos

A very good video demonstrating different glassblowing techniques, used by glass artisans from the Czech Republic. These artists, in collaboration with designers and artists from Fusion Z, produce glass sculptures, and other art glass forms.

This film documents a large wing-shaped piece (L’Angelo ritrovato) designed by Federicá Marangoni, and executed by Pino Signoretto. Viewers can watch its creation from its original design, to work at the furnace, and the final work in the artist’s studio. It is interesting for the size and weight of the piece, since it is blown and shaped.

An overview of the wide range of glass created by the Czech artists, including pâte de verre, sculptures, windows, world’s fairs displays (including River of Life), and their current studio in Zelezny Brod. Numerous figures in the glass world, including Dick Weiss, Dale Chihuly, Alice Rooney, Robert Carlson, Sylva Petrova, as well as Libenský’s students, discuss the Libenksýs’ work. Working in their studio, the artists make models, molds, and finish the sculptures by grinding and polishing.
